A graphic project exploring Frida Kahlo’s visual identity, imagining it in the modern context of social media and digital communication.
The aim of this project was to envision a possible visual identity for Frida Kahlo as a contemporary brand, adapting her artistic essence to three graphic elements: a business card, an email design, and a static graphic for Instagram.
The concept was developed using geometric patterns inspired by Mexican colonial architecture, enriched with stylised natural elements reminiscent of those frequently present in her paintings. The choice of colours — red, green, and white from the Mexican flag, combined with bright pink, yellow, and blue — evokes the vibrancy typical of Mexican culture, as seen, for instance, in the Día de los Muertos celebrations, maintaining the same visual energy and expressive strength.
The stylised illustration of Frida Kahlo’s face, reduced to her most iconic features, such as the distinctive eyebrows and red lips, was used in two out of the three designs: in the email header and as the central element of the Instagram graphic, creating visual continuity across the different formats.
Business card
The business card was designed to convey Frida Kahlo’s visual strength and bold personality using complex geometric patterns and vibrant colours that recall Mexican culture. The stylised illustration was omitted here to give more prominence to the patterns and typography.
Email Design
The email design imagines the promotion of two upcoming exhibitions dedicated to her works. The illustration of Frida’s face, positioned in the header, is combined with natural graphic elements and decorative patterns to create a sense of balance between nature and geometry, which are central elements of her aesthetic.
Instagram graphic
The Instagram graphic features the stylised illustration as the main element, accompanied by short, impactful text to promote the same imaginary exhibitions. The use of colours and patterns ensures consistency with the other project elements, while the composition is designed to have a strong impact in the visual environment of Instagram.
